Since the time we started going to 'play group', there was always been rush. Always been competition. Always been the race to come 'first'. To beat the rest, to excel. When one was in nursery one had to know the a,b,c 's and then went on the grueling, torturing, painful process of learning... :) One which has always been full of effort to keep up with the world. But what was world back then? All one knew was related to the history and the geography texts that one mugged up. But when it came to reality, was one really capable of taking on the world? Difficult though never impossible. It all had to boil down to the bio marks to get into Engg. What a wonderful system that.
Graduation was loads of fun, but then there was always the feeling of doing something different and hence the events taken care of therein. Whether i knew enough of heat exchangers or not, the efforts put in were sufficient to do a PhD in Event management. Though, studies were done with the zest of becoming a wonderful engineer only to lose that steam once the mba brigade got started and there went the L&T job. Landing up in NM was another no big achievement. It stands 16th all India (I knew then).
Then came on the same old scenario again. It had been 21 years of seeing that same old story. So much so that, it didnt really take time to get into the mould. Only to be looking back and thinking that its been a lot invested in such activities. Only to realise (hopefully not a little too late) that one also needed to excel in what was the bread and butter. With the scope of markets and industry not so blooming as they were once upon a time. Its time that books had to gain preference over everything. So much so that, for the past few days its been nothing but them and me and the wonderful walls of my house. Its now time to say "Full speed ahead", firing on all cylinders to reach where it was essential. To salvage all that one has invested. Not monetarily my friend (its a sunk cost already), but emotionally. The image, the facade must prove mettle. It must be able to beat the worst of the storms and pass through the most turbulent of times behind.
As was seen lately, the barbaric attack on the soul of mumbai made us realise that there was no peace. The Bhramkumari's and the RaviShankar's may talk and preach. But when it comes to reality, when it comes to practicallity, its a fact that there is no peace. Be it the city, the country or one's life.. the essence remains the same. And as the beloved CDG put it, its about "Exist of Exit"
Here to Exist for years still.. and so need to leave this at it. Who said people crave for salvation? here we crave for want of more of everything... :P
