Hats off seniors…!!!

B School…. Well, what do u go there for? Of course, for getting education, placed and then on enjoying your life slogging off 16 hrs a day in the office. But then this has to be facilitated. Placements have to happen.

However may you curse the college, but then there is simply nothing but words of praise when it comes to the senior batch. For me, they were angels. When it came to the placements, they were all there, in full force, to bail us out of the quick sand.

Who said it was just the October heat, it was actually the summer placements that sent the mercury soaring high. First time was an effort made towards synergizing the energy for a couple of days and getting most of the students placed in a few days, a Herculean task in itself. Well, hats off to the seniors. But for the tremendous planning and execution efficiency that was displayed there on, probably we all wouldn’t have been where we are. What do they teach us here; is a question asked many a time. Well, it all came out in these days. From managing people, to bragging to the company Hr about your college, to smooth flow of all processes, it all came into actual practice.

A different ball game all together is what it is. One day and 12 companies, was the task in front of them. With a frugal junior force with them, the seniors pulled up the ace up there sleeve. All the wonderful seniors donned the volunteers cap. Handled companies in their own slots and saw to it that each and every one of us was comfortable and relaxed before we would go in. Time clashing of the students in various processes and delays and unavailability of the students never deterred them. They were all there to help. The din would have put of any sane man, but not them. With quite a lot at stake, they kept their managerial tasks in their minds and hand held us as we walked that path of placements. Well, not always would u have people, helping you at every stage. Felt like a baby, and why not, that’s what we all were. But then, those smiles on their faces to see us placed us, was in itself the answer to why they were doing it.

For the unfortunate many like me, who had to see 3 days of placements, the seniors were the only source of inspiration and support. With all their help, be it in CV checking, to slotting us as per our convenience, they did everything that they could.

Real, heartfelt thanks to them all. The very gesture was touching and inspiring.

Salute to u all. :) :)

Mockery of exams or that of the entire educational system??

When Kabir Khan’s ‘Chak De’ team took on the mighty aussies, they were doing something that was never done. So also were Dhoni’s boys in the T20 finals. In the words of the former President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Khan, one should dream. Only when u dream can u achieve anything in life.

Dreams are fulfilled when u strive hard. Something that we were all taught when we were in school. What say? But what happens when at a premier B School these thoughts of yours go for a toss? Is this the new age phenomenon or is it just a one off case? No its not the Hindutva agenda here for sure, nor is it the communist taking on the government. What use are these tests and exams if the papers are known before hand. When the papers are known a day in advance and the students are bound to get good marks, is it any use to waste time studying? Students may study for 6 hours or for 18 hours, its all the same. Be it the assignments and projects, its all down the drain. Is it that the standard of education in India is going down or is it that by saying stress, stress and stress, we are simply diluting the Indian standard of education?

“Please give me your class’s feedback”. “Your feedbacks are really important to us. So please give us an honest feedback about it”. “We might not be able to change anything right away, but then it helps us know and take steps in the future.” What use are these words when they are from the chief administrator of a B School. What I being taught in the four walls of the class seems to have been put in place only till there. It seems the walls have not allowed the transmission of this knowledge to the admin offices below. What use is the action, when taken a full 3 months after u bring it to notice. And then people blame that the government is very lethargic and not doing anything for the people, but then what about such institutes aka temples of learning are so lethargic in making decisions.

Oh man!!! What a wonderful B School it is, thoughts that plague the mind of the new entrants, but then are they aware of the reality. 10th, 15th, blah.. blah.. blah. the magazines go on and rank these institutes. On what basis is all this hooplah? May I ask?

University status, a wonderful thing to have for the people in those offices; but then are the students at any benefit, probably not. When there aint enough space for the students to study, when extra classes are not scheduled coz a space crunch, then what else remains to be said. 60 to begin with, 120 later on and then with globalization it went to 240. But then when just for the sake of a status, it gets increased to 400? What of all those students who trusted the name and came in? What of all those who joined thinking of the zillion promises that were made?

Oh!! We have a social responsibility cell on campus of highly educated faculty and the students with a mission to bring about a change in this world. Forget the world, what of the very canteen that exists on campus? Why are goods sold at a price higher than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Quiz the canteen ‘anna’ and he would say “parvadta nahin”. Callousness at its peak is what one can say. Complete apathy.

Phew!! Was it that it was the end of exams that made me write so much as I have been made used to in the paper or was it the real frustration within. I am in search of excellence. J

For the present, am going home. So enjoy.

The Spider's ' Net '

"Net" "Net" "Net"
Thats something that bugs everyone all the time.
You may wonder what this means. In more ways than one, a net bothers us. Be it binding us within the realms of this worldly life or be it the rules and regulations laid down by institutes that want you to think out of the box while u r in the box. Wow !! How sweet that is. Wonderful replies and still better assurances. Assurances of the things which are yet to see the light of day.
" Oh did u approach any one of us ? " You should've talked to us" and many more were the wonderful words, should be etched in gold eh ?? Obviously they were the future mktg managers making a gimmic of the situation.
As for the actual connection, it gives new surprises with every new ray of sunshine. With the IP address being incorrectly entered to the servor being out of action.
Makes me wonder what does it take for an institute so reputed, an institute so fine, to provide a basic little facility. How nice it looks in the brochure, but so difficult to implement. Management is what we learn but seldom apply ? Is it ? Tall claims as they are, the wonderful facade put forth. What good are those speeches ? what good are those reviews ? What difference does it make ? Politicians we curse and cry out against, but are'nt these even worse ? Highly qualified and here we are, all hands are up. "Nothing can be done. You want it this way fine or else you will be refunded what is yours. U decide. " Thats the world in reality. Gifts of the license raj. Take it or leave. This is the best you will get. If not you someone else will surely fall for it. For today there is demand and so i rule.
Sad, but even after 60 years of glorious independence this is where even the highly educated are stuck. Bottom up, no stone left unturned and yet no results.
All this makes me wonder, where am I ? In the age of technology where every minute matters, how important is the time of over 70 students ? Left in a lurch over unfulfilled promises and pitiful neglect for more than 2 months. Am I in the same old slow paced India or do i represent the charging billion nation ?
Nevertheless, thats best one can manage with the net of the cost acc test tightening its nooze around our heads, so till i find a way out.....
adios amigos.

Destiny - the inevitable

hmmph!!! a reaction that marked our faces as we faced what was called as the 'tradition' going on for ages now. Handled in the right way ? In the right spirit ? Well, nothing can be said on such issues, what is done is done. The treat that followed up, though, was worth it.
Destiny - something that seriously undermines everything that you would have worked for. I am not saying that efforts dont bear fruits, but then surely all dont atleast not in the short run. From meeting someone whom you had last met 10 years before again after having completely lost touch all the while is nothing but destiny.. destiny for the things that are to come. Dont know, but then, losing and umbrella on a day when u r sent home early due to excessive rains is also something very similar. Well, as for the present, the rains are here to make a mark for themselves and for us as well ( oh the stained clothes which dont listen to the ads "surf ki safedi" or "daag acche hain")
Destiny also accounts for the unfolding of the events in the day, ending up having stuff u cant digest and then coming and writing this piece of crap when u got more imp things in life to go about with. :)
Never mind re... will do finance tomorrow, eco the day after and mktg the following day.. thats how i postpone.. hope tomorrow comes fast. This too is destiny... it nvr has it that i have studied sincerely before exams !!!!

Life - A parampara to survive

"Parampara" - a tradition. Have we forgotten what it is or have we come to an age where there is no existence of such ideas as tradition? It takes you through a journey, one that is unparalleled, one which lends you wisdom. Something out here just changed my perception of that. Amazes me as people still are not as prepared as you would want them to be. Got it in your heart and mind ?? doubt that?? A concept so amazing, a visualization so great. But then hey... who's listening ? You sit up and discuss the whole thing for some God damn hours and here you are, everything's different as the new day comes up. New day, different beginning thats what we are taught, but then never knew this applied so much to the scenario out here. Guess at last, with a major chunk of people out of there, they sensed the urgency of getting the act together, oh come on man ! u need to do that, after al its a tradition that has to be carried on forward. Lets leave it at that. God bless us all.
Education, loitering, fighting with heart and within, cant get this straight, here for what? education, one which is difficult to cope with or is it, the exposure ? Confused, everyone like me would be, why not ? Things arent the same, the parampara of life is "change" and constant change at that :)
Mumbai too seems to be keeping up with the same, with the rain Gods blessings ( so much so as to have the classes cancelled. ) was welcome as nothing else. As if washing away things that were evil, the rains also cleaned the mind of the trash as had been building up past few days. They say in hindi " Upar wala deta hai to chappad phad ke " Thats how it rains out here, you would imagine that the wonderful umbrella you have just brought will keep u dry. It is nice to dream it is said, but when it comes to the rains out here, nothing can beat them in the intensity with which they strike you and the speed with which they strike and disappear. "Gone with the wind" thats what happens to that wonderful umbrella you had bargained from the footpath seller. Sometimes i feel, it makes you more wet and that too without the slightest of the warnings, the umbrella isnt going to sustain the persistence of the monsoons and u feel that common sense prevails in closing it rather than having laugh at u tryin to control a poor non-living thing. Nevertheless, how much rain gear you have, you ought to get drenched.
Life surely wants you to learn and trains you bringing forth the various facets of it.. Be it eating the wonderful full meal to eating the very wonderful vadapav out on the streets, you are trained. Just that mistakes cost you as it would to go and chill out in a restaurant... :)

Hmm... gyan eh? nope "REALITY BITES"
