Mockery of exams or that of the entire educational system??

When Kabir Khan’s ‘Chak De’ team took on the mighty aussies, they were doing something that was never done. So also were Dhoni’s boys in the T20 finals. In the words of the former President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Khan, one should dream. Only when u dream can u achieve anything in life.

Dreams are fulfilled when u strive hard. Something that we were all taught when we were in school. What say? But what happens when at a premier B School these thoughts of yours go for a toss? Is this the new age phenomenon or is it just a one off case? No its not the Hindutva agenda here for sure, nor is it the communist taking on the government. What use are these tests and exams if the papers are known before hand. When the papers are known a day in advance and the students are bound to get good marks, is it any use to waste time studying? Students may study for 6 hours or for 18 hours, its all the same. Be it the assignments and projects, its all down the drain. Is it that the standard of education in India is going down or is it that by saying stress, stress and stress, we are simply diluting the Indian standard of education?

“Please give me your class’s feedback”. “Your feedbacks are really important to us. So please give us an honest feedback about it”. “We might not be able to change anything right away, but then it helps us know and take steps in the future.” What use are these words when they are from the chief administrator of a B School. What I being taught in the four walls of the class seems to have been put in place only till there. It seems the walls have not allowed the transmission of this knowledge to the admin offices below. What use is the action, when taken a full 3 months after u bring it to notice. And then people blame that the government is very lethargic and not doing anything for the people, but then what about such institutes aka temples of learning are so lethargic in making decisions.

Oh man!!! What a wonderful B School it is, thoughts that plague the mind of the new entrants, but then are they aware of the reality. 10th, 15th, blah.. blah.. blah. the magazines go on and rank these institutes. On what basis is all this hooplah? May I ask?

University status, a wonderful thing to have for the people in those offices; but then are the students at any benefit, probably not. When there aint enough space for the students to study, when extra classes are not scheduled coz a space crunch, then what else remains to be said. 60 to begin with, 120 later on and then with globalization it went to 240. But then when just for the sake of a status, it gets increased to 400? What of all those students who trusted the name and came in? What of all those who joined thinking of the zillion promises that were made?

Oh!! We have a social responsibility cell on campus of highly educated faculty and the students with a mission to bring about a change in this world. Forget the world, what of the very canteen that exists on campus? Why are goods sold at a price higher than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Quiz the canteen ‘anna’ and he would say “parvadta nahin”. Callousness at its peak is what one can say. Complete apathy.

Phew!! Was it that it was the end of exams that made me write so much as I have been made used to in the paper or was it the real frustration within. I am in search of excellence. J

For the present, am going home. So enjoy.
