Well, the very much revered joint housing system is as flawed as any. Be it respecting people, to respecting their wishes or be it keeping them satisfied and contented. It all boils down to management of humans.. and in this case family members. Boosting their egos when necessary and squashing them when and where necessary. Its like controlling them while still allowing them all the freedom they need. Its a simple trade-off between what people like and what they can do. And it being controlled by someone other than their own parents, forget own selves. In this world of materialism when wealth is not just internal but also lot more physical. When are the people going to understand that joint family system needs a revamp? When would it be realised that its not that people cant live together.., but trying to control the lives of other members of the family is something that should be refrained. Sometimes, it is essential to maintain the customs of the family etc. But then when it infringes on the life of the people... It is just too annoying and sometimes, parents wouldnt understand it too.
Simply put, these things existed in India because of the fact that the lives were much less materialistic and more towards the spiritual angle. There was more respect come what may and people felt that they were bound by the society and the people around. Today, there are pockets where that thing still persists and most places with the development in the country happening, nuclear families have cropped up and no more do parents have more than maximum 3 kids.. So the issue is wiped off at all levels. But for all those still plagued by the system, there is little respite but do as their elders tell them to or face the flack of being the black sheep of the family.
Hope the managers of such games are sensible else they wreck a havoc in the lives they might not even know.. bLESS tHEM gOD
